Legal Parameters of Data Center Development in Greece

Today’s front-page article published in energypress.gr, drafted by Metaxas & Associates Law Firm, examines the legal framework for the development of Data Centers in Greece, in light of the Ministry of Environment and Energy’s draft law, whose public consultation concluded on 24.10.2026. The article addresses, among other issues, the requirements for submitting a grid connection offer application, the obligation to cover at least 60% of annual electricity consumption from RES, the RAAEY Data Center Registry, and the proposed EU rating scheme for data centers.

Our law firm systematically provides specialised legal assistance to investors in the Data Center sector, given that the licensing process contains significant areas requiring a high degree of specialised legal diligence, and also in view of the fact that the contractual framework that must, as a rule, be established among all the parties involved in order to implement such a major investment is highly demanding from a legal standpoint.
